Common questions
How TimeTick works, what it costs and what it doesn't do yet.
What is TimeTick?
TimeTick is a cloud platform for testing EV chargers and charging backends. It gives you virtual OCPP charge points, ready-made test suites, load tests and PDF reports.
Is TimeTick an OCPP simulator?
It includes one. TimeTick runs virtual OCPP charge points and adds ready-made test suites, load tests and PDF reports on top.
How is this different from the monitoring dashboard we already have?
Most dashboards report a charger's own view of its status. TimeTick runs its own test sessions with virtual charge points against your CSMS or charger. You compare the outcome with a repeatable test instead of a self-reported log.
Do you replace accredited certification labs?
No. OCPP certificates are issued through accredited labs and reflect a single point in time. TimeTick lets you re-run the same tests after every release, so your results stay current after certification.
Which protocols and standards do you support?
OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 today, with test suites modelled on the official OCTT test set. OCPP 2.1 is on our roadmap. We don't test OCPI interfaces or ISO 15118-20 scenarios yet. You can join the early-access list for ISO 15118-20.
Can you load-test a CSMS at the scale of a large network?
Yes. TimeTick Readiness runs thousands of virtual charge points against your CSMS (charging backend) in parallel. The largest run so far was a joint test with a customer at 40,000+ virtual charge points.
Which regulations can you report against today?
None yet. A UK PCPR reliability report is in development, and the first operators can join early access.
Where do you work?
Anywhere OCPP is used. Your team's location doesn't matter.
How does a custom project work?
A fixed-scope project of 4–6 weeks: custom test scenarios, an integration or a large test run on your network. We agree the scope and the result on a call.
Do we need to install anything on our hardware?
No. Virtual charge points connect to your CSMS directly. To test a physical charger, point it at a TimeTick endpoint.
How is TimeTick priced?
TimeTick Readiness starts at $100/month for self-serve testing, with 100 testing hours included. A pre-launch charger check, a one-off test of a physical charger before it ships, costs $250–400 per unit. TimeTick Assurance and TimeTick Compliance are in early access. and we'll agree pricing with you.
